Flexion-Distraction Therapy

Flexion-Distraction Therapy

Flexion-Distraction is gentle spinal manual therapy performed on a specially designed and precision table. This table has a movable section under the patient’s lower body to allow the specific movements required to make flexion-distraction possible. This section creates gentle specific traction whilst it flexes, extends, laterally bends and circumducts (combination of flexion and lateral flexion).
This effectively decompresses the area of the spine that is being treated.

Flexion-distraction therapy is clinically proven to reduce pressure inside the spinal disc, widen the spinal canal, reduce pressure on the spinal nerves, and return motions to spinal joints.
Flexion-Distraction reduces pain due to disc bulging, disc herniation, slipped disc, ruptured disc, arthritis, facet syndrome, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, general lower back pain, leg pain,
sciatica, and much more.

Flexion-Distraction is non-surgical, practitioner-controlled, hands-on therapy for spinal pain conditions. It is low force and uses finesse rather than abrupt force to restore normal motion to the spine, meaning it is usually a completely painless therapy

Flexion-Distraction is indicted to assist with the following conditions:

  • Sciatica- The Sciatic nerve and back painSciatica- The Sciatic nerve and back pain
  • Lumbar disc herniation
  • Sciatica Osteoarthritis
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Lower Thoracic disc herniation
  • Facet syndrome
  • Pelvic pain
  • Loss of lumbar lordosis
  • Loss of range of spinal motion
  • General lower back stiffness & pain Scoliosis (not to cure, but to maintain mobility of the curve)
  • Transitional segment management
  • Pregnancy back pain
  • Postural faults
  • General mechanical back pain
  • Coccydynia Post-surgical scarring
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Other forms of mechanical back pain (such as that accompanying ankylosing spondylitis etc)
