Physiotherapy & Chiropractic

We commonly get the question here at Gladesville Healthcare – “What is the difference between physiotherapy and chiropractic at your clinic?” and in reality, the answer is “there isn’t one”.

Physiotherapy and modernday chiropractic encompasses the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of any musculoskeletal injury or neurological condition in the body and involves a variety of therapeutic methods to resolve an injury. All of our physiotherapy and chiropractic team have completed their post-graduate Masters degrees to practice where they are today.

What does the initial and any follow up consultations consist of?

At Gladesville Healthcare, our physiotherapy and chiropractic team pride themselves on providing a premium service that is catered to each individual patient’s needs. What we mean by this, is that not every neck, back, shoulder or ankle injury is the same.

Typically, our initial consultations run for 45 min – 1 hour which gives us ample opportunity to listen to your story, record a detailed medical history, take you through the appropriate orthopaedic and neurological testing that is required to establish a solid working diagnosis and then formulate a plan together with you to achieve your goals. Based on our history and examination at this point, our team are also able to refer you for any imaging such as MRI, EOS scans or x-rays if clinically warranted.

At Gladesville Healthcare, all of our physiotherapy and chiropractic team work extremely closely with each other to ensure that we are delivering a service that we can be proud of. All of our practitioners frequently keep up to date with the latest literature and research in the musculoskeletal field and use this to ensure that their treatment remains current and progressive. All of our team are skilled in a number of different treatment options and interventions including:

  • Soft tissue massage and stretching
  • Joint mobilisation and gentle chiropractic adjustments
  • Dry Needling
  • Development of functional rehabilitation programs
  • Management of sports injuries
  • Sports Taping (both rigid and kinesio)
  • Radial Shockwave Therapy
  • Functional Assessment including postural rehabilitation

Never seen a chiropractor before? We are different at Gladesville Healthcare.

We often see new patients who attend our clinic that are often up front with us that they have never received or are worried about chiropractic care. The reality is that modern day chiropractic care is safe and effective, but it is also about educating the community as to what we do and subsequently giving people a reason to trust us.

All of our chiropractors have undergone five years of university study to be where they are today and have all have numerous years of experience working as part of the Gladesville Healthcare team. In saying this, we know that there are some misconceptions out there in the community and therefore we encourage all our patients to always ask or express any concerns that they have openly before attending our clinic or in any of their consultations.

You may not know this, but our chiropractors are also able to treat conditions not related to the neck or lower back – such as shoulder pain, upper limb symptoms, sports injuries, ankle sprains, knee injuries etc. and are trusted by many local GP’s and specialists across Sydney to carry out pre and post-surgical rehabilitation programs for their patients. Our team have multiple tools to manage your condition which means that we frequently treat patients whose consultation does not involve any spinal manipulation or “cracking” if that isn’t for you.

Feel free to reach out if you have any concerns, and we will be more than happy to talk you through anything that you might be worried about.
